Cotriss, Wagner earn first wins at Ransomville Speedway

Jesse Cotriss earned his first career Krown Undercoating Modified victory at the Ransomville Speedway Friday night, while Derek Wagner won his first career Investors Service Sportsman feature event. Ryan Hoolihan won the main event for the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, Cameron Tuttle won his third Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman feature of the season, and Chad Desso won his second Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers feature of the season.

Cotriss and Jim Zimmerman led the Krown Undercoating Modifieds to the green flag for their 30-lap feature, with Cotriss taking off with the lead. Chad Brachmann challenged Cotriss in the final 10 laps but Cotriss held on to win his first career Modified feature. Brachmann took second, followed by Scott Kerwin, Erick Rudolph and Pete Bicknell.

Darrell Borkenhagen and Dustin Gorhan were on the front row for the Investors Service Sportsman feature, with Borkenhagen leading the field of 25 cars. Wagner moved into second on Lap 7 and took the lead on Lap 13. Wagner held on to score his first career Sportsman feature, followed by Matt Farnham, Greg Martin, Gorhan and Dave Flannigan Jr.

The 60th season of racing at the “Big R” will continue on Friday, July 7 as the Jetport Lounge and Niagara Lazy Lakes Resort presents a full card of racing plus Kids Rides. Gates will open in the pits at 5 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. and racing getting underway at 7:15 p.m. Keep up with the action at www.ransomvillespeedway.com
