Steve Collins from Belfast, NY won the main event for the A-Verdi Storage Containers Patriot Sprint Tour on A-Verdi Storage Containers and Johnston’s Restaurant night at Ransomville Speedway. Ransomville’s Brett Senek scored the Investors Services Sportsman feature win in the event that was rescheduled from May 12, while defending divisional champion Matt Farnham of Tonawanda was victorious in the second Sportsman feature. Bill Bleich Jr. from Port Robinson, Ontario grabbed the win for the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, Cole Susice from Ransomville won the feature event for the Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers, and Robbie Johnston from Ransomville won the Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman feature event.
Kelly Hebing and Derek Jonathan brought the field of 21 Patriot Sprints to the green flag for their 25-lap A-Main with Hebing jumping into the lead, followed by Collins in second and Jonathan in third. Following a few cautions, Collins took over the lead from Hebing on Lap 15, while Kyle Drum would take second away from Hebing on Lap 19. Jared Zimbardi went after Hebing and would pass her for third place with just four laps remaining. Collins pulled away to win his second career A-Main with the Patriot Sprint Tour. Drum, Zimbardi, Hebing and Jordan Givler completed the top five.
The 60th season of racing at the “Big R” will continue on Friday, June 9 as BlueCross BlueShield of WNY presents Labor Night at the Races benefiting the United Way of Greater Niagara. A-1 Land Care Inc. and Niagara Hardwood will also present the racing program. A full card of racing will be presented plus double features for the 358 Modifieds. Gates will open in the pits at 5 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. and racing action starting at 7:15 p.m. Keep up with the action at www.ransomvillespeedway.com.
