12-time Ransomville Speedway Modified track champion Pete Bicknell earned his first victory of the season Friday night at Ransomville Speedway. Jonathan Reid won his first career Investors Service Sportsman feature event, while Jaren Israel won the make-up feature from May 12 for the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks. Cameron Tuttle won the make-up Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman feature from May 12, Kyle Wendt won the regularly-scheduled Novice Sportsman feature, and Chris Leone won the main event for the Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers.
Rick Richner and Scott Kerwin brought the field of Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds to the green flag, with Kerwin showing the way early on. Bicknell took the lead from Kerwin on Lap 3 and held on for his first Ransomville triumph of the season. Richner finished second, followed closely by Ryan Susice, Erick Rudolph, and Chad Brachmann.
Darrell Borkenhagen and Dustin Gorhan were on the front row for the Investors Service Sportsman feature, with Gorhan taking the initial lead. Mike Williams took the lead from Gorhan on the restart following a Lap 5 caution. Reid took over second on Lap 9, just as the caution came out for Justin McKay; Reid took the lead on the restart and held on to score his first career Investors Service Sportsman triumph. Williams, Dave Flannigan Jr., Jim Harbison and Gorhan rounded out the top five.
The 60th season of racing at the Big R continues on Friday, June 23 as Scott Joy Trucking presents a full card of racing plus bicycle races. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. and racing starting at 7:15 p.m. Ransomville Speedway will also be racing on Monday, June 26 at 7:15 p.m. for the Monday Madness Special: a full card of racing will be presented as well as the popular $1 Hot Dog Night.
