12 events on Oswego Speedway’s 2017 schedule

Oswego Speedway will kick off its 67th season on Saturday, May 13 with the Race of Champions Modifieds and end it with “Classic Weekend,” September 1-3, featuring the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

The “Steel Palace” opens on May 13 with the 61-lap Richie Evans Memorial for the RoC Mods, as well as the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank Small-Block Supers. On Saturday, May 27 – Memorial Day weekend – the third-annual Port City “Super Spectacle” features the Jim Shampine Memorial 75 for the Supers and the Tony White Memorial 35 for the SBS; the two Oswego series are joined by the ISMA Supermodifieds for the Jack Murphy Memorial King of Wings IX (rain date – May 28).

Saturday, June 10 is the first autograph night of the season, also featuring Twin 35s for the Supers and a 30-lap main for the SBS. On Saturday, July 1, the Independence Weekend Grand Prix will feature a 75-lap main for the Supers and 35 laps for the SBS plus fireworks.

The 67th annual Race of Champions event gets a new date for 2017 – Saturday, July 8. There will be a practice session on Friday, July 7, and the RoC Modifieds will be joined by the Supers and SBS on Saturday; rain date for the event is Sunday, July 9.

Saturday, July 15 is the Summer Championship for both home series, and Saturday, July 22 is the 31st annual Mr. Novelis Supermodified ($10,000-to-win) and the 26th annual Mr. Pathfinder Bank SBS ($1,500-to-win).

Saturday, August 5 is the Speedway’s Reunion Weekend, with a 45-lap feature for the Supers, and Saturday, August 12 will be highlighted by Twin 20s for the SBS. The regular season championships will be decided Saturday, August 19, with $5 admission and a driver autograph session.

The 67th season finale is the 61st annual Budweiser International Classic Weekend, Friday through Sunday, September 1-3. “Fast Friday,” September 1, will feature practice sessions for the Supermodifieds and Small-Block Supers as well as time trials for both classes and SBS heat races; the evening ends with the Party in the Pits beginning at 7:30 p.m. “Super Saturday,” September 2, features the NASCAR Modifieds in a 150-lap feature and the ISMA Supermodifieds in the Super Nationals 60. “Classic Sunday,” September 3, will feature the 61st running of the Budweiser International Classic 200 and the 26th running of the Bud Light SBS Classic 75.
