Justin Sharp took the main event for the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman Sunday night at Humberstone Speedway for his first win of the season. Rob Pietz won his fourth feature of the season for the Pinty’s Delicious Foods RUSH Late Models, while Rob Murray won his sixth JC Auto Street Stock feature. Dylan Llord picked up his eighth win of 2016 in the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks and Jason Coutu picked up his first win of the season in the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks. Nick Masi won his second Eve of Destruction Enduro qualifier, but a second-place effort gave Steve Robison a qualifying spot for the event, set for Sunday, September 25.
Sharp and Cody McPherson led the 23-car DIRTcar Sportsman field to the green flag for their 25-lap feature, with Sharp leading until Lap 7, when McPherson took over. Sharp regained the lead just one lap later, battling McPherson, Brad Rouse and Chad Chevalier for the lead throughout the rest of the event. Sharp held off McPherson and Rouse to score the win, with Chevalier and Dylan Davidson rounding out the top five.
Bruce Hordusky Jr. and Colton Ledingham led the RUSH Late Models to the green flag, with Hordusky showing the way over Ledingham and Pietz. Pietz took the lead away from Hordusky at the end of the first lap and drove away from the field to grab his fourth win of the season. Dennis Lunger Jr., Hordusky, Sam Pennacchio and Ledingham completed the top five.
