Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway opened up Sunday Nostalgia Weekend on Friday night with the Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing program plus a special Nostalgia Eliminator class.
The Nostalgia Eliminator final featured another chapter in the Ricketson Family Feud, with Reid Ricketson facing his brother Clay in the special class designed for cars produced before 1980 and running no electronics. Reid Ricketson picked up his fifth win of the year overall at Lancaster.
Tony Madonia scored the win in Top 8, holding off Joe Masullo in the finals. Mallare Enterprises Top ET went to Billy Ryan over Chris Van Baalen. It was Ryan’s second win of the season at Lancaster to go along with a TNT Hot Rod Series win last month.
Two drivers earned their first career wins on Friday night, as Justin Saas scored his first ever win in McGard Mod and second-generation racer Drew Nearhoof made his first visit to victory lane. Another second-generation racer, Mason Fix, scored his third win of the year in Tread City Tire Street.
Lancaster National Dragway celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Funny Car this Friday, August 5 with Funny Car Friday. There will be a match race featuring the Alcohol Funny Cars of Vince Rastelli and Chris Zagoda and a vintage funny car match race between the “Agent Orange” 1973 Plymouth Duster of Kim McKean and the Pol-Cal Corvette of Johnny K. There will also be a full card of Franco’s Pizza Friday night IHRA Drag Racing. Find out more at www.lancasternationalspeedway.com.
