Rich Carnes and Dave Vona scored wins in the twin features for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Chargers at Holland International Speedway on Saturday night. For Carnes, it was his first win of the season while Vona picked up his second victory of the year. Dave Wollaber earned his fourth win of the season for the NYPA TQ Midgets, while Jeff Szafraniec was declared the winner in the Bank of Holland Hornet feature. Carl Vilardo IV scored his fourth Advance Auto Parts INEX Legends win and third in a row, and Darryl Phillips won the Rookie 4 feature after post-race tech.
In the first feature of the night for the Pro Chargers, Carnes jumped out to an early lead over Ted Welshans and stayed there, picking up the win over Welshans, Zach Myers, Jim Mallaber and Dave Vona. Tim and Nik Welshans set the pace for the second feature, with Tim showing the way early. Vona battled Josh Hathaway for several laps before taking the runner-up spot away from him just past halfway, then taking the lead with six laps to go. Vona went on to score the win. Hathaway, Myers, Tim Welshans and Mallaber rounded out the top five.
Scott Gleed and Vinnie Christiano III led the NYPA TQ Midgets to the green flag for their 20-lap feature, with Christiano III showing the way early. Vinnie Christiano Jr. and Dave Wollaber raced their way into second and third and began to chase down the younger Christiano. Wollaber took over the lead on Lap 5 and drove away from the rest of the field to earn the win. Kyle Hutchinson, Christiano Jr., Erik Musto and AJ Hessler rounded out the top five.
Holland gets back on track on Saturday, August 13, as the Bank of Holland Hornets will be featured in a 50-lap event along with a full NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program featuring twin features for the Chargers plus NYPA TQ Midgets, INEX Legends, M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s and Rookie 4’s. Also appearing is the Dale Earnhardt Jr. Nationwide Insurance No. 88 showcar and simulator presented by Getzoni Nationwide Insurance.
