Rich Carnes and Tom Northem picked up the wins in the twin features for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Chargers on Dick Flaig Remembrance Night at Holland International Speedway. Ben Russo won his fourth feature of the season for the Bank of Holland Hornets, while Dave Wollaber earned his fifth checkered flag of the season in the NYPA TQ Midgets. Bryce Norton scored his first win of the year in the Advance Auto Parts INEX Legends, Darryl Phillips took home top honors in the Rookie 4’s and Sharon Hughes scored her second win of the year in the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s.
Rich Carnes and Chuck Anderson led Pro Charger feature No. 1 to the green flag, with Carnes jumping into the lead. Nik Welshans moved into the runner up spot and challenged the leader but Carnes held off Welshans to score his second win of the season.
In race No. 2 for the Pro Chargers, Matt Fleming and Tim Welshans led the field to green with Fleming showing the way early over Tim and Ted Welshans. Northem went three wide with Jim Mallaber and Welshans to take over third place on Lap 6, then passed Tim Welshans for second and challenged Fleming for the lead at the halfway mark. Northem took the lead away with ten laps remaining, pulling away to score the win.
Season championships for all divisions will be decided next Saturday night, September 3 as part of the Busch 200. The 2016 format includes the season championship 75-lap event for the Pro Chargers that will be split into two segments, plus a 50-lap feature for the Hornets and the return of the Pro Modifieds in the running of a 75-lap feature. The NYPA TQ Midgets, Advance Auto Parts INEX Legends, Rookie 4’s and M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s round out the racing card. Racing action will get underway at 4:30 p.m. followed by features.
