Darrel Farraway and Jeff Armstrong led the field of PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag, with Chevalier moving into second on Lap 8 and beginning to reel in race leader Armstrong. Armstrong continued to show the way at the halfway mark, but Chevalier caught Armstrong while working in lap traffic and passed Armstrong for the lead with three laps remaining.
