The All Canadian Championships at Humberstone Speedway is a Civic Holiday tradition that goes back to the early days of racing at the Port Colborne oval. The 2016 edition has a unique twist on it and it will take place on Sunday, July 31. Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. with the draw opening at 3:30 p.m. The grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with time trials getting underway at 6 p.m. followed by qualifying and feature racing.
Group time trials for Humberstone’s five weekly divisions will begin at 6 p.m. with Mini Stocks, Trucks, Street Stocks, Late Models and Sportsman. Time trials for the Vintage Cars will be determined on race day. Top time trialers will lock themselves into the redraw for the feature. All others will line up heads up for the last chance heat races.
If there are less than 10 cars in a division, the top four will redraw and the remaining field will run one heat race. If there are 10-17 cars in a division, the top nine will redraw and positions 10-17 will run one heat race. If there are 18-22 cars in a division, the top 12 will redraw with one heat race being held. If there are 23 or more cars in a division, the top 12 will redraw and two heat races will fill out the remaining field. Humberstone Speedway has the right to revise the above based on car counts. Any changes will be made prior to any time trial events. Laps for the heat races will be determined by car counts with a maximum of 10 laps for each qualifying event.
The Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks will be running a 20-lap feature event as will the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks. The JC Auto Street Stocks will be running a 50-lap feature event as part of the Duel on the Dirt Championship Series, a combined series between Brighton, Humberstone, Merrittville and Ohsweken Speedways. The Pinty’s Delicious Foods RUSH Late Models will run a 30-lap feature and the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman will also run a 50-lap feature.
Adult grandstand admission tickets will be $18 and students/seniors tickets will be $15; kids 8-12 are just $5 and children under 7 are free. Pit admission is $25 for DIRTcar/Humberstone Memberships and $30 for non-members. Free camping is available all weekend with an adult paid admission ticket to the All Canadian Championships.
