National weekend wrap-up: June 10-12, 2016

NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series – three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champ Angelle Sampey picked up her first win since 2007, joining Steve Torrence (Top Fuel), Ron Capps (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) in the winner’s circle Sunday at the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. 

Sprint Cup Series – Joey Logano won his first race of the season Sunday at Michigan International Speedway, besting Chase Elliott in the Firekeepers Casino 400. Kyle Larson finished third, while Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick completed the top five.

Xfinity Series – Daniel Suarez became the first Mexican driver to win a top-tier NASCAR race on Saturday, winning the Menards 250 at Michigan over his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch. Paul Menard, Erik Jones and Elliott Sadler rounded out the top five.

Camping World Truck Series – William Byron used a late-race pass on runner-up Matt Crafton to pick up his second win of the season, this time the Rattlesnake 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Johnny Sauter finished third, Ben Kennedy fourth and Tyler Reddick fifth.

Verizon IndyCar Series – the IndyCar race scheduled for Saturday night at Texas was postponed due to weather until Sunday, when only 71 laps were completed before it began raining again. The race has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 27, and will be started from Lap 71 with James Hinchcliffe leading the way. Josef Newgarden was injured during the only wreck in the first 71 laps, fracturing his right clavicle and right hand.
