Evans takes Crate Sprint Car win at Humberstone

Shone Evans from Scotland, Ontario picked up the win in the Crate Sprint Car feature at Humberstone Speedway on Sunday night. Brad Rouse from St. Catharines picked up his third PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman feature of the 2016 racing season, and Chad Homan of Macedon, NY turned his first-ever appearance at Humberstone into a win in the Pinty’s Delicious Foods RUSH Late Models. Dave Bailey from Hagersville, Ontario won his first JC Auto Street Stock feature of the season, and Dillon Llord from St. Catharines won his fourth Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Truck feature. 
Kyle Rothwell from Welland, Ontario won his first Cosco Haulage Mini Stock feature of the season.

Evans and Jesse McDonald started on the front row for the Crate Sprint Car A-Main with Evans leading over McDonald and Aaron Turkey early on. Evans held off McDonald to pick up the win, with Aaron Turkey finishing third. It was Evans’ first career victory of any kind.

Tyler Puchalski and Jordan Cosco brought the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag for their 25-lap feature, while Rouse started eighth and was battling McPherson for third at the end of Lap 1. Cosco and Puchalski made contact coming off Turn 4, allowing Cody McPherson to take over the lead. Rouse took the lead on a Lap 7 restart and never looked back, scoring his third win of the season. Jay Mallory finished second followed by Cosco.

Tim Gillespie and Homan were on the front row for the Pinty’s Delicious Foods RUSH Late Model feature, with Homan jumping out to an early lead. Jeff Dayman passed Gillespie to take over second on Lap 3, but Homan pulled away from Dayman and picked up his first career Humberstone victory. Sam Pennacchio held off Dayman for second.

Humberstone will return to action on Sunday, July 3 as Tidyman Maintenance and Port Colborne Laundry presents the Kid’s Poster Contest plus Vintage Cars and the complete Humberstone weekly racing program. Also on the card will be the first Eve of Destruction Enduro qualifier. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with race time set for 6:30 p.m. A full schedule for the 2016 season and more information can be found at
