The 57th season of racing at Holland International Speedway kicked off Saturday night with Eric Brown in victory lane for both twin features for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance NASCAR Pro Chargers. Jeff Szafraniec won the Bank of Holland Hornets feature, while Brandon DeBrakeleer won the Advance Auto Parts INEX Legends feature. Dave Wollaber won the Jerry Gradl Motors NYPA TQ Midgets feature, Don Haskell won in M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s, and Anton Anderson III won the Rookie 4’s feature.
Brown moved into third on Lap 3 of the first Pro Chargers feature, then passed pole sitter Nik Welshans for second on lap seven. Brown finally got past Max Northem for the lead with two laps remaining and went on to pick up the win. Northem crossed the line second but failed post-race inspection. Dave Vona, Ted Welshans, Tom Northem and Zach Myers completed the top five.
In the second feature, Rob Miszczak set the pace early on, with Brown starting 10th and making his way up to fifth by Lap 4. Brown passed Myers for the lead with less than 10 laps to go and held off defending track champion Tom Northem and Myers for his second win on the night. Northem, Myers, Vona and Rich Carnes would complete the top five.
“The Wildest Show on Wheels”, Crash-A-Rama, returns to Holland for their annual Spring Show of Destruction on Saturday June 11 at 6:30 p.m. The $5,000-to-win Enduro, Boat-Trailer Race, Flag Pole Race and more will be on the card plus a Jet Powered Golf Cart and the metal crushing Transaurus. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m. and the show getting underway at 6:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to pick up pre-sale tickets at Advance Auto Parts locations throughout WNY and also online at www.hollandspeedway.com.
