Mother Nature threw the red flag on racing this weekend, as both Lancaster National Speedway and Humberstone Speedway cancelled events on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Rain, cold temperatures and high winds forced officials at Lancaster to cancel the stock car program on Saturday, which was scheduled to include a visit from the NYSS Super Stocks. Next weekend, May 21, the track will host five divisions, including the first visit of the season from the Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Modified Series, as part of a program that begins at 5:30 p.m. (gates open at 3:30 p.m.). The RoC Modifieds will be joined by the Sunoco Sportsman, Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks, Roaming Buffalo 4-Cylinders and the NYPA TQ Midgets. It will be the only time this season the Mods and Sportsman will compete in feature action at Lancaster on the same night. General admission for this race only will be $25 for adults, $10 for students 12 to 17 and free for children under 12.
Poor weather conditions on Sunday in Port Colborne, Ontario also led to the cancellation of Sunday’s racing action at Humberstone. Management is working to reschedule the Duel on the Dirt for the Street Stocks plus the Vintage Car event and autograph session that was scheduled for the evening. Humberstone returns to action on Sunday, May 22 with John Puhl Memorial Night, featuring the RUSH Late Model Touring Series powered by Pace Performance, PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman, JC Auto Street Stocks, Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks and the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks, plus fireworks to celebrate Victoria Day. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with racing getting underway at 6:30 p.m.
