Humberstone cancels season opener Sunday

New Humberstone Speedway was forced to cancel the 2016 season opener on Sunday, May 1 due to wet grounds.

“Poor ground conditions all around the property was the biggest factor into canceling tonight’s racing program,” said Director of Race Night Operations Clinton Geoffrey. “We will be having a practice session this coming Wednesday (May 4) at 6 p.m.”

The 57th season kickoff will now take place on Sunday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. featuring the Race of Champions (RoC) Sportsman Tour. The best Sportsman drivers from New York State and Pennsylvania will cross the border to take on the best in the Niagara region as the RoC makes its inaugural visit to Humberstone for the first race of the RoC Sportsman Tour for 2016. The evening will also include the Pinty’s RUSH Late Models, JC Auto Street Stocks, Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks and the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with racing getting underway at 6:30 p.m. A full schedule for the 2016 season and more information can be found at
