Wes Cayea of Williamson, NY picked up the season-opening win in Quick 16 Friday night at Lancaster National Dragway, then made it to the final round of Top ET. Alan Fletcher picked up another win in Sleds & Bikes, while Reid Ricketson won in Mod ET and Mason Fix won in Street.
Cayea defeated defending class champion Steve Ferstl in the Quick 16 final, then jumped into the Top ET bracket and advanced to the final round, where he fell to Joe Masullo.
Fletcher, of Lancaster, remained perfect in Sleds & Bikes, winning his third-straight to open the season over Mike Nearhoof. Ricketson, of Darien Center, picked up the win in Mod ET over Ray Thurston IV, and second-generation racer Fix, of Amherst, scored the Street victory when Chris Kujawski red lighted in the finals.
The speeds continued to pick up at Lancaster National Dragway as teams work on dialing in their cars to the new concrete racing surface. Victor Puglia posted the fastest run to date, making a 4.22-second pass at 168 mph in his dragster.
