Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway has announced an adjustment to the opening night program for the Franco's Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing Series, set for on Friday, April 29. This show will now be a Test & Tune session, as track officials want to give competitors a chance to dial in their cars on the new concrete racing surface before the first points race of the season, which will now be Friday, May 6.
Pit gates will open at 3 p.m. on April 29, with tech inspection beginning at 4 p.m. Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m., with time trials starting at 6 p.m. A special ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place before time trials to officially open the newly-surfaced concrete drag strip. Two long-time Lancaster National Dragway competitors, Marc Schifferle and Donny "DJ" Raiser, will have the honor of making the first pass.
There is a $20 entry fee for the Test & Tune session on April 29. Adult all-access passes are only $10, kids ages 12 to 17 are $5 and kids under 12 are free. Grandstand admission for Test & Tune will be free.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to print out the Pre-Tech forms found on the track website, www.lancasternationalspeedway.com, in advance and have them completely filled out before coming to tech inspection. There will be an "Express Pre-Tech" line for drivers who were pre-teched in 2015 and have not made changes.
The drag racing action at Lancaster for 2016 starts on Wednesday, May 4 with the first Cruise Night of the year followed by the first points race of the year on Friday, May 6. Mallare Enterprises Top ET, McGard Mod ET, Hebeler's Sales Sleds & Bikes and Tread City Tire Street will all be in action that night, plus Top 8 and two classes of Buffalo Street Outlaws.
